I guess it might also be who has the least accurate name for a color.
I nominate Subaru's Blaze Yellow. Not a lot of yellow there, and not a single blaze in sight.

I kinda like Blaze yellow...

Amber Gold Hyundai S-Coupe from Top Gear.

This nasty-ass green on the last-gen Camry's.

you know when some paint colors look alot better in person? this is not one of those times. i worked at Toyota for a while and saw when these came out in this color... i hated it, we called it "Salmon Orange"

It was lemon chiffon, at best!

They only made ~500 of that color, too. It is a cool color, and it looks great with the gold wheels. I don't really like the black hood scoop though.

That's pretty bad, I might see it working on some cars, but Gawd that is a LOT of acreage for that kinda green.

Lime Squeeze Metallic was available on the Mercury Mariner, too.

MY friend has a yellow Subie, not sure if its blaze yellow though.

Sorry guys, but any car in this color is downright awful, bar a select few.

I'm pretty sure that is Sonic yellow. Sonic yellow is a more true, almost chrome yellow color, while Cashmere yellow has a lighter and creamier appearance. Sonic yellow was only available in 2003, and only 3,000 were made. It's not as rare as Blaze yellow, but is still a great color.

Ever seen a tree that's been blazed in the traditional fashion, cutting a scar through the bark? When it's fresh, it's almost exactly that colour on a lot of trees. It would be nice to think that's why the colour was called that, instead of primrose.

Ah yeah that name rings a bell.

Agreed. It looks...alright in pics, but in person, it's terrible.
Toyota calls it 'Habanero', but it doesn't look like it at all.
In contrast, I've really taken a liking to another Prius C color: Summer Rain Metallic .
I've always been a big fan of light blues on vehicles.
Looks good in pics, looks even better in person.

Subaru Blaze Yellow looks kinda close to Jaguar Primrose Yellow , which is amazing, and the best E-type color.

I always thought that what you call Blaze Yellow was called Cashmere Yellow for some reason.
I'm not going to lie, I would rock one of those bug eyes in that yellow. I used to see a wagon painted that color and I wanted that so bad. . .

It's like a lot of cars. The colors nice, but the car just makes it look like shit. Now the FJ cruiser had a similar shade, but it was badass and called "Voodoo Blue"

I really like the butter yellow WRXs. I nominate any kind of fire truck red.

I dont know, I mean, on the Jag, it's not too bad; not a favorite, but adequate. I just think it is too washed out. It's the type of color I expect to see on maybe a bug or a newer thunderbird.
![]() 11/15/2013 at 19:59 |

To some extent, that color looks good. To me, a good test is to squint at it, and un focus enough to start losing the details. Then once it just a shapeless color you can see if you really like it.

i have yet to see that one, but it looks pretty bad.

I'm actually kind of partial to light metallic greens. Maybe it's because my family has a Mazda 6 wagon in the ultra-rare Arctic Tundra Metallic, a color so rare it's not documented accurately online.

I'm going to go with that horrible green the "new beetle" came in...

Actually doesn't look too terrible on this car. The Camry's have too much green in them. This is a lot more subdued.

in pictures it doesn't look too bad in pictures, but in real life it's sort of like a "pastel" orange with some salmon color in their. i hate it nearly as bad as the Ford's "Lime Green" on their Mustangs. Gawd that was awful, and this is coming from a Die Hard Ford Fan.

Around 1998-2000 there was a shade of Green offered on Chevy Cavaliers that was a cross between Bile and Vomit.
I can't find a pic of it so it must be rare. We had to do a Dealer trade to get it so it may be the only "Bivomit" green Cavalier LS 5 speed on the planet.

I like the color - just not the application.
Maybe it's because orange is the best color ever and I'm a sucker for uniqueness, but I do think it's a legitimately nice color. Coincidentally, I actually saw one in person today too.
There's so few orange cars out there I gotta like it. Plus the matte-like orange on newer Subies (those XV things I think just).

Deep Lava Red. Often looks black at first glance, but in good lighting you realize it's the world's darkest maroon.

God, I had forgotten that color. Or maybe blocked it! I used to see one of them on a regular basis, and would nearly throw up in my mouth each time!

mmm... not really a wagon.
![]() 11/25/2013 at 17:43 |

By Jalopnik's definition of a wagon , the Venza comes pretty close (roof covering 50% of cargo area). It's borderline, but the very fat D-pillar kind of takes away from the wagon look (rear cargo area window does not extend very far back, but it's still there).

I guess so. Yeah, the D-pillar messes it up.
